A Little Something Extra for Your Cruise

Cruise vacations have changed considerably over the years, and the cost of travel continues to rise. That makes me especially appreciative of opportunities to add genuine value to my clients’ vacations without adding to their cost. Distinctive Voyages is one of those opportunities.

Rather than offering a small perk, the program adds experiences to your cruise. A Distinctive Voyage typically includes three core benefits: an Exclusive Shore Event, a Private Welcome Reception and the services of a Distinctive Voyages Host.

Depending on the cruise line and departure, other amenities or enhanced benefits may also be available.

What Is Included With a Distinctive Voyage?

A Complimentary Exclusive Shore Event

For me, this is one of the most exciting Distinctive Voyages benefits. Each Distinctive Voyage typically includes an Exclusive Shore Event created specifically for participating guests. These experiences are designed to provide a meaningful connection with the culture and history of the destination.

I’ve had the opportunity to experience this benefit myself during a visit to Pompeii, Italy. Our experience included private transportation and an excellent guide who brought the ancient city to life. The entire shore experience was complimentary as part of the Distinctive Voyages program.

The Exclusive Shore Event varies by itinerary, so the experience is unique to the destination and sailing.

A Private Welcome Reception

Guests are also invited to a Private Welcome Reception aboard the ship. This is an opportunity to meet your Distinctive Voyages Host and become acquainted with other guests participating in the program. It provides a warm introduction to the Distinctive Voyages experience at the beginning of your cruise.

A Distinctive Voyages Host

A Distinctive Voyages Host serves as an onboard point of contact for participating guests. Your host is there to welcome the group, assist with questions and provide information throughout the voyage. On the rare occasion that a Distinctive Voyages Host is unavailable, the cruise line provides hosting services on behalf of the program.

A small number of Distinctive Voyages offer an enhanced Private Car & Driver benefit. On these select premium and luxury sailings, guests can choose a private car and driver with a preselected tour, enjoy the flexibility of a private car and driver while deciding where they would like to go, or receive a $200 USD per-person onboard credit instead.

These departures still include the services of a Distinctive Voyages Host and the Private Welcome Reception, but these enhanced options replace the standard Exclusive Shore Event. Pre-registration is required. You’ll find these select departures identified in my Cruise Benefits Finder.

Which Cruise Lines Offer Distinctive Voyages?

Travel Leaders Network offers more than 375 Distinctive Voyages departures annually across 14 premium and luxury cruise lines.

With such a varied collection of cruise lines, Distinctive Voyages can be found on many different styles of cruise. You might find one aboard a premium ship sailing Alaska or the Mediterranean, a small luxury ship, an intimate yacht-style vessel or even a European river cruise.

How Do I Book a Distinctive Voyage?

Distinctive Voyages benefits are available on specific departures and must be arranged through a participating Travel Leaders Network agency.

I’m a Cruise Travel Specialist affiliated with Pure Magic Vacations, which is part of the Travel Leaders Network consortium. This gives me access to eligible Distinctive Voyages departures and their additional benefits.

When you book an eligible Distinctive Voyage with me, I take care of the appropriate booking arrangements so that you can receive the applicable benefits.

There is no additional charge to you for the Distinctive Voyages program.

Do Distinctive Voyages cost more?

No. There is no additional charge for the Distinctive Voyages benefits when you book an eligible departure with me.

Is the Exclusive Shore Event really complimentary?

Yes. The Exclusive Shore Event is included for eligible Distinctive Voyages guests at no additional cost. The experience varies by sailing and destination. It is curated specifically for the Distinctive Voyages program and is not simply one of the ship’s regularly offered shore excursions. An additional cost may be involved only if there are more than two guests in your stateroom who wish to participate.

Do I have to participate in the Exclusive Shore Event?

No. The benefit is there for you to enjoy, but you are not required to participate.

Will every Distinctive Voyage have a host?

Distinctive Voyages departures are hosted. On the rare occasion that a Travel Leaders Network Distinctive Voyages Host is unavailable, the cruise line provides hosting services on behalf of the program.

What if the Exclusive Shore Event hasn’t been announced yet?

For some cruises, particularly those departing farther into the future, the details of the Exclusive Shore Event may not yet be available. That doesn’t mean the benefit isn’t included. Details may be announced closer to departure, and I’ll provide the applicable information as it becomes available.

Are additional Distinctive Voyages benefits ever included?

Yes. Benefits can vary depending on the cruise line and departure. Some Distinctive Voyages may include additional amenities, while a small number feature the enhanced Private Car & Driver options described above.
